Experiences of conception, pregnancy and childbirth

Among the people we talked with, about two thirds had conceived at least one child as a result of either home insemination or fertility treatment1. Some women had also conceived ‘naturally’ after having an IVF-conceived child. This film includes examples of people’s experiences of conceiving after fertility treatment and ‘naturally’ following IVF, of pregnancy after fertility treatment, and childbirth.

1 For this resource we interviewed 25 people who were chosen to reflect a wide range of experiences of infertility and fertility treatment. They are not a statistically representative sample, and therefore the proportion who conceived following fertility treatment is much higher than the in the wider population of people who undergo ART.
