Research Team
Kath Ryan is Associate Professor and Director of Research in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University. She is a qualitative health researcher and has a PhD in Pharmacy Practice. Her research interests are personal experiences of health and illness and women’s health, including infant feeding, medicines use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. She was the Chief Investigator and oversaw the conduct of the project.
Kayli Wild is a Research Fellow at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University. She has a PhD in medical anthropology and has worked primarily in Timor-Leste and with remote Aboriginal communities. Her research interests include maternal and reproductive health and the use of film in research. She coordinated the project, conducted interviews, analysed the data and wrote talking points.
Victoria Team is a Research Officer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University. Her DrPH focused on the health of immigrant Australians. Her research interests are in the area of women’s health. For this project she conducted interviews with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and managed administrative aspects of the project.
Elaine Lawurrpa Maypilama is a senior Warramiri woman from Mata Mata, in Northeast Arnhem Land. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters from Charles Darwin University for her contribution and leadership in Aboriginal health research. For this module she coordinated the research and conducted interviews on Elcho Island.
Jacqueline Tudball was Research Fellow on the project, her second using DIPEx methods. She conducted interviews, analysed the data and wrote talking points. She is a medical sociologist and has a PhD in public health from the University of New South Wales.
Lorraine Smith is a research and teaching psychologist in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sydney. She has a PhD in motivation and self-regulation. Lorraine’s research interests centre around patient self-management of chronic conditions, patient experiences of health and illness, and the development and testing of models of patient-centred care. Lorraine was research supervisor on the project.
